Have you ever dreamed of making it big in the next superstar boy band? “Nothing is impossible,” says YOSHIKI.
Rock legend, composer and producer, YOSHIKI seeks to create the next superstar boy band. Together with Nippon Television (NTV), YOSHIKI launched an innovative new boy group audition project called “YOSHIKI SUPERSTAR PROJECT X”.
When YOSHIKI SUPERSTAR PROJECT X launched in March, it received more than 1,000 applications in a single day. Due to popular demand, the application period has been extended and will reopen on Monday, April 11 at 12:00 (JST). Boy band hopefuls can apply solo or as a group until Friday, May 20, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. (JST).
Any age or nationality is welcome to apply!
Although YOSHIKI is considered a visual rock band icon, the upcoming group could be anything from a dance or hip-hop group to a band—in short, YOSHIKI seeks to create a stylish and avant-garde “genderless group”.
Winners of YOSHIKI SUPERSTAR PROJECT X will not only be produced by YOSHIKI but will also have access to some of its most valuable contacts. Using resources like voice trainers and fashion experts, he plans to build the strongest team possible.
YOSHIKI expressed his vision for the group, saying, “I feel like two different groups could debut; a dance and singing group and an orchestra. He also said: “After meeting the candidates in person, my ideas may change.—and in that sense, this audition is a collaboration between the candidates and us.
YOSHIKI expressed his wish to help emerging artists and take them under his wing.
I am so honored to receive this offer from Nippon television.
“Nothing is impossible.”
Since Asia is in the spotlight lately, I’d be happy to introduce a new “Most Powerful Genreless Band” to the world.
If there is a map of the world to show the power of the entertainment industry, Asia has grown rapidly in recent years.
It’s been a while since I moved to the United States, but I believe there are many wonderful artists here in Japan.
Unlike the old days, the door to the world can open instantly, and I think there are more opportunities than ever for Japanese artists.
This project was started with my desire to contribute to the rising generation.
I can give advice thanks to my years of experience and I hope to grow with the group as a globally active artist.
You may think of YOSHIKI as a visual rock band icon, but the upcoming band could be a dance or hip-hop band – not necessarily quirky, but a sleek, edgy “genderless band.”
In order to compete on a global scale, the group must be the “best” and it goes without saying that passion and hard work are essential.
On top of that, there must be something extra that shines.
I am confident to identify such talent and aura.
I want dreams to be truly endless.
I want you to believe in your own potential more than you do today.
Let’s go into the world, with me.
I look forward to meeting you all.
We can’t wait to see how YOSHIKI approaches the candidates, the criteria he uses for the selection, and finally, what kind of boy band he will produce.
This competition series will air on “Sukkiri” and “Gyoretsu no dekiru sodanjo” (NTV) and also stream on Hulu.
