South Korean boyband FTISLAND announces first comeback mini album in over 2 years


South Korean boy band FTISLAND recently announced their comeback. The K-pop group took to their official Instagram account and unveiled a title poster and teaser schedule for their upcoming eighth mini album titled CLOSE. The title song is called Unthinkable, and the poster shows something chained and locked.

The next mini-album, CLOSE from FTISLAND (Five Treasure Island) will express the painful moments of love that one has hidden in their Pandora’s box of memories after a breakup. The album will be about the moment someone faces a breakup until the moment they decide they’ll love again.

Title song Unthinkable try realistic thoughts of wanting to come to terms with a breakup with your partner but not being able to do so. The moving voice of the group’s lead singer, Lee Hong Ki, and the sad atmosphere of the song will move listeners. CLOSE is the group’s first comeback in more than two years and two months since their release ZAPPING in 2019. The new mini album will be released on December 10th.

The group currently consists of only three members – lead singer Lee Hong Ki, bassist Lee Lae Jin and drummer Choi Min Hwan, following the exit of three ex-band members including Oh Won-bin, who left. the group. group in 2009, Song Seung Hyun who left the group in 2019. The K-pop group was declared inactive for several reasons, including the involvement of its former member Choi Jong Hoon in the scandal The Burning Sun, as well as the compulsory enrollment of the three remaining members.

FTISLAND debuted in 2007 in Korea and then in Japan in 2008. It became one of the first boybands to fuel the K-pop boom. This had paved the way for other groups like Day6, N.Flying and Xdinary Heroes. The boy group celebrated their active years in the K-pop industry with the release of their Japanese compilation album titled Best 10th Anniversary Ever / Yellow (2010-2020) who placed number 7 on the Oricon ranking of Japan.
