The 2021 Billboard Music Awards finalists were announced Thursday, with The Weeknd leading the pack, earning 16 nominations, including Best Male Artist, Best R&B Artist, Best Billboard 200 Album for “After Hours” and Best Song Hot 100 for “Blinding Lights,” The # 1 song from last year.

Rappers Pop Smoke and Juice WRLD have won several posthumous nominations, including Best Artist, and disgraced country singer Morgan Wallen is nominated six times.

The Billboard Awards are based on the period March 21, 2020 through April 3, 2021. Two of the 51 categories are voted on by fans, including Best Collaboration and Best Social Artist, where Asian acts dominate. Nominees include K-pop groups BTS, BLACKPINK and Seventeen; Filipino boy band SB19; and Ariana Grande.

Others who have won multiple nominations include Bad Bunny, Chris Brown, Megan Thee Stallion, Doja Cat and Justin Bieber.

The 2021 Billboard Music Awards will air live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on May 23 at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT on NBC.
