NBCUniversal Anime & Music is releasing a trailer for Season 4 of fan-favorite historical drama series Golden Kamuy, which will premiere in October.
A new trailer has dropped for Golden Kamuy Season 4, announcing new cast details and the season premiere date in October.
Unveiled on the series’ official website, the new trailer previews some of the perils that await protagonists Asirpa and Saichi Sugimoto as they continue their quest to find the hidden treasure of the Ainu. It also features the new opening and closing theme songs featured in the new season. The opener, “NEVER SAY GOODBYE” featuring Mummy-D, is performed by Japanese hip-hop/funk group ALI, while the ending, “Subete ga Soko ni Arimasu yo ni”, is performed by the rock band THE SPELLBOUND.
Fans can expect new cast additions in Season 4; Yasuyuki Kase, who is known for playing Kankuro in naruto, will join the cast as Waichiro Sekiya, a war veteran and poison expert who is briefly shown in the new trailer. Another addition to the cast is Tomokazu Seki, who will play the role of Botaro the pirate. While Geno Studio produced the animation for the first three seasons, Season 4 will be animated by Brain’s Base with Shizutaka Sugahara (Grimms notes animation) as Chief Director.
Takumi Yamakawa (To your eternity) will take over the role of character designer from Kenichi Ohnuki. Toru Koga (Pencil Shin Chan) will be in charge of the artistic direction of the series. Noboru Takagi, who wrote series compositions for previous seasons, will continue to do so for Season 4. Chikahiro Kobayashi and Haruka Shiraishi will continue to play the roles of Saichi Sugimoto and Asirpa respectively.
Based on the manga by Satoru Noda, Golden Kamuy is a historical drama set in the aftermath of the Russo-Japanese War. The story begins with war veteran Saichi Sugimoto traveling to Hokkaido to participate in the region’s gold rush. Hoping to make a fortune there, Sugimoto eventually uncovers a secret map detailing the location of a hidden treasure, but there’s a catch; the remaining pieces of the map are made up of tattoos found on the bodies of Abashiri prison inmates. With the help of an Ainu girl named Asirpa, Sugimoto embarks on a journey to track down the escaped convicts and find the treasure – but the mission becomes more complicated when the pair realize that the army’s highly trained Seventh Division Japanese is also after gold.
Those who would like to catch up Golden Kamuy before the release of season 4, you can watch the first three seasons on Crunchyroll. The manga, which ended earlier this year, is available in English from VIZ Media.
