LiSA’s “Homura” Awards Artist Title 1st Female Solo Artist in Japan to Be Streamed Over 300 Million Times

Oricon revealed today this J-pop superstar LiSA Became the first female solo artist in Japan to have a song streamed over 300 million times. The song in question was his 2020 hit “Homura”. The single is the theme song of the 2020 animated film Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The movie: Mugen Train, which became the highest-grossing animated film in the world during its release.

According to Oricon, “Homura” was broadcast 300,139,425 times since its release on October 14, 2020, and has remained in the top ten of the weekly streaming charts for 53 weeks, ranking number 1 for the first seven weeks of release.

The Oricon playlist was introduced in December 2018 and tracks songs on Apple Music, Amazon Music, AWA, KKBOX, TOWER RECORDS MUSIC powered by レ コ チ ョ ク, YouTube, YouTube Music, LINE MUSIC and Rakuten Music. Notably, Spotify and other Western services are currently not tracked through Oricon, which makes LiSA even more remarkable feat.
