‘Kingdom’, ‘Itaewon Class’, ‘True Beauty’ Most Mentioned K-dramas on Twitter – Manila Bulletin

“Kingdom”, “Itaewon Class” and “True Beauty” have become the most mentioned Korean dramas on Twitter over the past three years.

At MU: CON 2021, Kim Yeon-jeong, head of Twitter’s global K-pop and K-content partnerships, revealed the most-mentioned Korean dramas and films on the platform.

The top 20 Korean dramas and films were based on English tweets, collected by text mining, from July 2018 to June 2021.

According to Twitter, the most mentioned Korean dramas from July 2018 to June 2021 are:

1. “Kingdom” (Released: 2019)

2. “Itaewon Class” (2020)

3. “The real beauty” (2020)

4. “Vincenzo” (2021)

5. “Sky Castle” (2018)

6. “Hotel del Luna” (2019)

7. “Start-up” (2020)

8. “Hospital Reading List” (2020)

9. “Guardian: The Lonely and Great God” (2016)

10. “Penthouse” (2020)

11. “Vagabond” (2019)

12. “Sweet at Home” (2020)

13. “Crash Landing on You” (2019)

14. “Voice” (2017)

15. “Love alarm” (2019)

16. “It’s good not to be well” (2020)

17. “Kairos” (2020)

18. “Chronicles of Arthdal” (2019)

19. “Extracurricular” (2020)

20. “Stranger” aka “Secret Forest” (2017)

She cited as an example the keywords related to the “Itaewon class”. She said, “If you get to the end, there’s the name of another drama. That’s because BTS’s V sang the soundtrack to “Itaewon Class”. Related words are filled with it.

“In conclusion, once you watch a Korean drama, you get so into it that you start watching others,” she said.

Regarding “Vincenzo” by Song Joong-ki, she said, “We thought“ Vincenzo ”was doing well in Korea. And had fans in Asia. But that’s not the case, ”adding that the drama had many fans in the United States.

“Twitter will strive to globalize a wider variety of content. Speaking of K-pop, there are a lot of opinions, whether starting with idols or going back in time. I hope K- pop isn’t just about music, I hope it goes beyond drama, film, webtoon, gaming, fashion and beauty, ”she added.

In contrast, the most-cited Korean films from July 2018 to June 2021, according to Twitter, are:
