Jin, member of K-pop star BTS, will release his first solo single next week before his military service

SEOUL, Oct 19 (Reuters) – K-pop singer Jin, a member of hit boy band BTS, will release his first official solo single next week, the seven-member group’s agency said on Wednesday, after the announcement this week that he will soon begin military service.

The song, titled “The Astronaut,” will be released on October 28 at 1 p.m. (0400 GMT), with pre-orders due to start later Wednesday.

“Since it’s a song made with so much love to the fans, we hope ‘The Astronaut’ can be a gift for all of you,” according to Bighit Music‘s statement posted on global fandom platform Weverse.

The announcement came after Group Management Group HYBE (352820.KS), which owns Bighit, said on Monday that Jin would rescind a request to further delay his enlistment in late October. The other younger members of the group also plan to do their mandatory service.

In June, BTS announced a hiatus from the group’s musical activities to pursue solo projects, but reunited on Saturday to perform a free concert in the city of Busan in support of South Korea’s bid to host the World Expo 2030 in the port city.
