As I have said over and over again, 2021 is the year of GOT7 and every member seems to be thriving. From a whopping 52 articles and magazine covers and counting to the successful solo debuts of Bambam, Yugyeom and Jay B, the boys have been busy. And what better way to celebrate Mark Tuan’s birthday month than to get the birthday boy out of his first solo album.
The oldest member of GOT7 touched Ahgases’ heart by finally reuniting with his family and returning to LA after living in South Korea while under their former agency, JYPE. Fans couldn’t help but notice he was having fun, unleashing his player identity, opening a YouTube channel, modeling for photographers and brands like Celine in GQ, and landing on Marvel OSTs. He also revealed last month that he was filming for his solo music video and fans are hoping he will release it in September as his birthday is September 4th. in the past.

7 solo songs and subunits by Mark Tuan
In an interview with Paper Magazine, Mark mentioned that he would like to incorporate his experiences from his internship days to who he is now and make it accessible to the listener and / or loved ones. And among the solo and subunit songs he has released so far, he has a very distinctive R&B sound, which is why we can’t wait to see how his debut solo album plays out. Well, here are seven songs from Mark Tuan to listen to while waiting for his debut solo album.
Out of my head
“Outta My Head” is Mark’s first digital solo song in Chinese, released in January 2020. The idol impresses with her deep vocals in this electro-pop song about love. We also had a great time with a music video which is a montage of its time at a fan meeting and a Chinese concert.
I never told you
‘Never Told You’ was released a few months later in March 2020. Quite different from the dance-pop ‘Outta My Head’, Mark lets loose with ‘Never Told You’. Soothing ballad, he thanks his fans and his loved ones for always being by his side thanks to which he was able to overcome all the challenges and obstacles encountered.
One in a million
“One In A Million” was the perfect Valentine’s Day gift for fans, released on February 14, 2021. It was the first song a GOT7 member gave up after leaving his former agency JYPE. In collaboration with Sanjoy Deb, ‘One In A Million’ is an R&B track with hip-hop sounds and heavy bass as Mark shows off his vocals as well as his rap. He also dropped a cute animated music video as he sings on Ahgases as his only source of motivation and inspiration.
I will never go down
“Never Gonna Come Down” is Mark’s first OST and happens to be for the latest Marvel movie “Shang-Chi”. It also features rapper and singer Bibi. Fans loved how their voices mingled together as they sang about falling in love without realizing the other was returning their feelings. The track also topped the iTunes Songs charts in 13 countries and the iTunes Soundtrack charts in 16 countries within 24 hours of its release and was No. 38 on the global iTunes song chart.
‘Cold’ is a unitary song with Bambam released on their third Japanese mini album ‘I Won’t Let You Go’. Made by Bambam, it has its characteristic sound of heavy synth samplers, echoes and autotunes perfect for a hip-hop song. Fans love the rave vibe it generates especially during the bridge dance break that the boys added to their gig.
‘OMW’ is Mark’s track in GOT7’s ‘Present: YOU’ performed by him and Jackson. It is also his first Korean solo song. We also get a characteristic of Jackson and his distinct hoarse voice pairs well with Mark’s deep, raspy verse. Mark also released a trippy music video for the inspiring track as he emphatically sings that he will do whatever it takes to make his dream come true.
‘Why’ is a subunit song with Jay B for the Japanese album ‘Turn Up’ and was performed during their ‘Turn Up’ Japan tour. It’s a seductive R&B song that suits the style of both members very well as they always sing about feelings for an ex and wonder “Why?” Made by Jay B, fans loved the vibe of the song and were hoping for the return of this subunit. Although that is not possible at the moment, we could have a similar genre in Mark’s album.
With such an extensive discography spanning seven years, Mark has also composed incredible songs for GOT7 like “Born Ready”, “Think About It” and “No Jam” in conjunction with other members and music producers.
‘It’s Mark’s Day’
Ahgases also tends to Mark Tuan as the birthday boy came live on Weibo to thank fans for celebrating with him. They tweeted messages like “Nahh but our birthday boy is so cool” and “You’re my sugarplum pumpy-umpy-umpkin honey bunny you’re my honey.” They also did video edits for him, “#Marktuan is a dream”, “#MarkTuan: always and forever” and “#MARK: STFU SON MARK DAY!
