Many local celebrities have rallied around the reopening of live events and theaters in the third quarter of the year.

Although things have been slow on the business side, many industry practitioners have not forgotten those struggling to cope with the relief efforts.

Relief efforts for the rakyat

While many have continued to struggle to make ends meet during the pandemic due to the shutdown of many areas, local celebrities have launched their own relief efforts to help.

The #BenderaPutih movement, an initiative of Rakyat, was launched on Twitter in late June to help those in need without them having to feel embarrassed to ask for help.

The movement called on those in need of food or other essentials to hoist a white flag in front of their homes to allow needed aid to be delivered by their fellow Malaysians.

Local artists such as actresses Sharifah Amani and Izara Aishah as well as radio host Fara Fauzana were among the celebrities who had used their social media platform to spread the #BenderaPutih movement by calling on the public to seek out their neighbors who might need help.

Other celebrities such as rapper and producer Altimet, actor Sharnaaz Ahmad, singer Naim Daniel and many more have mobilized their own relief efforts by providing daily essential parcels and opening food banks to help people. in need.

Actress and singer Elizabeth Tan donated half of her July salary as part of her initiative to help Malaysians affected by the Covid-19 pandemic.

It was not the only time that local celebrities came to the aid of the rakyat this year as the ongoing flood crisis hit various parts of Malaysia, seeing many celebrities once again helping out with what they could.

While some celebrities have been affected by the floods, those who have not been assisted in the clean-up efforts as well as in the collection and delivery of essential items to flood victims.

Celebrities such as Datuk Seri Siti Nurhaliza, Wawa Zainal, Caprice, Neelofa and others have participated in the flood relief efforts.

It was also revealed that Malaysia ranked 10th among countries obsessed with Kpop content with 2.8% of Kpop related video creation.
