EVERGLOW becomes first K-pop girl group to mark Billboard milestone in 2021

EVERGLOW achieved an impressive feat on Billboard that made them the first K-pop girl group to do so in 2021.

EVERGLOW becomes first female K-pop group to perform on Billboard

On May 25, EVERGLOW made their first comeback after eight months with their third single album, titled “Last Melody”. The album includes three tracks: “FIRST”, “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” and “Please Please”.

On June 1, Billboard magazine updated its rankings, including global digital song sales for the week ending June 5.

The Billboard World Digital Song Sales Chart is a weekly publication featuring the best-selling digital songs from around the world. After PSY’s “Gangnam Style”, many other K-pop artists have entered the charts over the years. Most of them would succeed in placing their title songs in the world rankings.

But as with EVERGLOW, the girl group has taken a step that rarely happens to K-pop artists. Based on the worldwide digital song sales chart this week, all three tracks from their album “Last Melody” appeared on the list.

In particular, EVERGLOW’s three new songs landed in the Top 25 of the Billboard charts.

“FIRST” debuted at No.5, becoming the group’s seventh entry into the Top 10 in the count. The title track is the highest-ranked song by the K-pop girl group on the World Digital Song Sales chart, dated June 5.

In addition, “FIRST” is their third song to land at No. 5, after “BON BON CHOCOLAT” and “LA DI DA”. This is also their fifth title to make the Top 5 in the global digital song sales chart, the others being “ADIOS” and “DUN DUN”.

Meanwhile, the album’s B-side songs “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” and “Please Please” won numbers 20 and 21 respectively.

With “Don’t Ask Don’t Tell” and “Please Please” entering this week’s Billboard World Digital Song Sales charts, EVERGLOW became the first K-pop girl group in 2021 to place their B-side tracks on Palmares.

EVERGLOW wins first trophy for “FIRST” + Girl Group enters Gaon ranking this week

In the June 1 episode of SBS MTV’s “The Show”, EVERGLOW’s “FIRST” faced fromis_9’s “WE GO” and Song Ha Ye’s “Broken Heart” for first place. EVERGLOW ultimately took the win with a total of 5,080 points.

EVERGLOW’s “FIRST” is also doing well on the national charts. For the 22sd week of 2021, the song debuted at # 64 on the Gaon Download Chart. On MelOn, “FIRST” exceeded 206,000 streams and 42,000 unique listeners.

Their latest album “Last Melody” also entered this week’s Gaon Chart. It ranked fourth on the weekly Gaon Album Chart, becoming the highest-ranked album from a K-pop girl group. This is EVERGLOW’s third album to reach fourth place, after “REMINISCENCE” and “-77.82X-78.29.

Additionally, “Last Melody” is their fifth Top 10 entry on the Gaon Weekly Albums Chart, the other releases being “HUSH” and “ARRIVAL OF EVERGLOW”.
