Ellie Goulding described her upcoming album as “dance stuff from outer space.”
After becoming “quite introspective” on her latest studio effort, “Brightest Blue” of 2020, the 34-year-old singer has revealed that she is returning to her electronic dance-pop roots.
She told the Joe Wicks podcast, âI spent a lot of time alone, quite introspective.
âI had a backlog of things I wanted to write about. It was quite deep and moving. And this album is the opposite of that.
âI found this dream team of writers who for some reason, without even having to talk about it, were all on the same page. Together we are on this mission just for fun.
âWe just want to make music for people to dance and forget about everything in the past year.
âIt’s like a dance record. It’s electronic pop, a dance from space.
Ellie marked the start of a new era when she teamed up with Mark Ronson and Diplo on the “New Love” disco-pop banger in January.
âBrightest Blueâ marked the hitmaker’s first LP âLove Me Like You Doâ in five years and she previously admitted that she didn’t feel âemotionally equippedâ to make an album during this time.
Ellie – who first became a mother in April to a little boy named Arthur, whom she has with her husband Caspar Jopling – said: âThere were definitely some things that made me back down. felt like I was in a place where the songs weren’t reaching, they weren’t strong enough in my opinion.
âSo I waited until I was properly prepared and emotionally equipped.
âI also had some technical stuff, like a change of management, I went back to London and got married. So a lot happened back then and it’s only now that I feel completely ready to embrace this life again. “
