Cairo Korean Cultural Center launches K-POP Academy 2022

The Korean Cultural Center in Cairo kicked off the K-POP Academy 2022 event at the Ballet Institute, affiliated with the Egyptian Academy of Arts, on Sunday. This is an educational class for K-POP dance skills. K-POP Academy 2022 will run until September 18.

This year’s K-POP Academy event is more meaningful as it supports the creation of an empowered K-POP community in Egypt in line with cultural and artistic trends that have changed due to COVID-19.

K-POP Academy instructors are usually from Korea, but due to changes in the cultural and artistic environment caused by COVID-19, the winners of the World K-POP Festival organized by the Cultural Center last May will serve of instructors in this edition. . Enthusiasts and stage experience of K-POP will become instructors while sharing their know-how accumulated during the courses of the academy.

A total of 12 instructors will teach songs from famous K-POP idol groups such as Stray Kids and BTS. Sixty students were selected out of 320 candidates for the event, testifying to the enthusiasm of the participants. The 60 selected students will learn dance techniques over the next 3 weeks.

Oh Sung-ho, director of the Korean Cultural Center in Cairo, expressed his joy for organizing the event, noting that it should help strengthen the K-pop community.

He noted that he plans to invite many experts in all cultural fields to deepen and strengthen cultural exchanges and mutual understanding between Egypt and South Korea.
