21 Savage says he won’t be performing at future Rolling Loud events again.
Last night (September 25), 21 Savage was scheduled to take the stage ahead of the night’s headliner, Future. However, 30 minutes into his scheduled nearly two-hour set, the Atlanta rapper was on Twitter proclaiming he wouldn’t be performing at the famed festival.
“Riding hard will never put on a show for me again,” 21 Savage tweeted.
It’s unclear why 21 Savage didn’t play. Unconfirmed reports from spectators on Twitter indicate that he may have arrived too late and not been allowed on stage. According to viewers on Twitter, Ski Mask The Slump God and Big Sean were among the other artists who did not perform.
XXL has reached out to reps for Rolling Loud and 21 Savage for comment.
The 2022 Rolling Loud New York festival featured some wild moments. Newcomer Ice Spice received backlash for her performance. She came out for Fivio Foreign’s set and performed half of his hit single “Munch (Feelin’ U)” before twerking the rest of the way. Nicki Minaj nearly had her wig ripped off by an overzealous fan. A$AP Rocky struggled after diving into the crowd and getting stuck in the mosh pit. Rocky’s set was also cut short, with member A$AP Mob later issuing an apology to fans.
“I’m so hurt right now! Last night was supposed to be a turning point in my concerts from old to new!” Rocky wrote in a statement on Twitter. “I will take full responsibility for the circumstances that led to last night’s show being all it was and all it wasn’t.”
“I also want to acknowledge that even though I’ve put together the best show for my fans, detail for detail, over MONTHS…” he continued. “I was unfortunately unable to achieve my vision and I’m hurt by it and I want to apologize to all my loyal fans and supporters, and thank you all for coming out for me despite everything!!”
The next Rolling Loud Festival is scheduled to take place next year in California.
