2022 K-POP Bangladesh Global Audition Ends

The Embassy of the Republic of Korea announced the winners of the K-pop competitions held in Dhaka today. The event was organized by the Embassy in collaboration with the Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB). Many talented Bangladeshis, especially young people, interested in Korean culture and K-pop participated in the event. A total of 86 videos were submitted about K-pop performances this year. 12 teams have been selected for the stage performance on July 2, 2022 at the Independent University of Bangladesh (IUB) auditorium: OMADA | Noor E Saba | Mahfuz Ahmed Mahee | Ruquiyah Binte Kalam | Mavericks | Zafrin Siddiqui | After the game | Knight Sisters | A-MAZE | WILD GIRLS | RaRaLAVA | Rumaisa Islam. Mavericks wins 1st prize, SAVAGE GIRLS & RaRaLAVA are both 2nd runners-up, Rumaisa Islam and Knight Sisters become 3rd. These top five teams were rewarded at the performance stage. The 2022 World K-POP Festival will be held in September in Changwon, Korea, pending the development of the COVID-19 situation. National winners from Bangladesh shall be recommended to the 2022 World K-pop Festival Organizer for their final Festival Invitation Selection. If selected by the organizer, they will be invited to the world competition in Changwon, Korea. Ambassador Lee Jang-keun welcomed all attendees and the audience saying that it was the very first physical K-POP event held by the Embassy since the pandemic hit the country and K-Pop contests POPs have been held virtually for two consecutive years. In addition, Ambassador Lee highly appreciated all those young girls and boys from Bangladesh who showed great interest in K-POP by participating in the contest. He added that the future of Bangladesh is very bright thanks to its young people who are smart, talented and eager to have a better life and a brighter future, wishing the dreams of young winners to come true. Prof. Tanweer Hasan, Vice-Chancellor of the Independent University of Bangladesh was present as a special guest, and Mr. Syed Ashik Rahman, CEO of RTV, as a judge. The ROK Embassy regularly organizes various cultural events, such as Korean film festivals, taekwondo competitions and K-POP contests, to deepen mutual understanding between Koreans and Bangladeshis through culture and strengthen bilateral ties. The Korean Embassy expresses its sincere gratitude to all contest participants and hopes that the excellent works of the contestants will help everyone through the difficult times. As Bangladesh and Korea celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next year, the embassy will host more dynamic cultural events to commemorate the deepening bilateral friendship. The Embassy encourages the most talented young Bangladeshis to participate in next year’s Kpop competition.
